We are back with another monthly article to provide you with the events being hosted by student organisations! Quite a variety, ranging from art exhibitions to beach cleanups, all very interesting and worth attending.

Psych of the Times – A New Era for Mental Health
TDM 2000 Malta and MHSA are uniting to provide you with their newest campaign! Various events and activities will be held throughout the month of October, which is concerned to be the Mental Health Month. Updates and announcements are going up on their event page.

HoASA visits ‘THE SUMMING UP’ by Richard Saliba
HoASA are organising their first official art exhibition. ‘THE SUMMING UP’ is a retrospective exhibition of works from 1975 to 2020 by the artist Richard Saliba and curated by Roderick Camilleri. Art enthusiasts will get the opportunity to witness his art and also to meet him in person! Saliba will be giving a tour round the exhibition. Entrance is free but only ten visitors can enter per session due to COVID-19 regulations.

Helping Hand | Għajn Tuffieha Makeover
SCORP is teaming up with ESN and MFA to bring you the ‘Għajn Tuffieha Makeover’ which will consist of cleaning up the beaches of both Riviera and Golden Sands – talk about a total makeover! Groups are limited to 9 persons per group due to COVID-19 regulations and all the basic resources needed for the cleanup will be provided by the organisations. Sign up here!

MHSA’s Research Expo
After last year’s successful expo, MHSA are back for more. Through this event, students are given the opportunity to delve into the world of research carried out by the Faculty of Health Sciences students. Students will also get the opportunity to present their research (virtually, that is) at the 2021 edition of the Internal Conference for Health and Medical Students in February. Fearless: Maltese Journalism At A Glance
On the eve of the third anniversary of Caruana Galizia’s assassination, KSU will be organinsing an online discussion to go through the developments within Maltese journalism and court cases. Members of the panel are still being announced on their event page. This is a great opportunity to all students to learn more about how journalism works and why is it important.

KSU: Virtual Freshers’ Week 2020
Our very own student council at UM managed to persevere through COVID-19 times and are hosting the very first ever Virtual Freshers’ Week. With it comes all the typical expectations of freebies, content and a general welcome to all university freshers. How To Sessions 1: Assignment Writing and Case Studies
Joining University and getting used to the system will always remain a fear to many students, that is why ELSA Malta is here to provide essential skills for all law students! For the 6th consecutive year, ELSA will be hosting their ‘How to Sessions’ and the first part of the series will be focusing on assignment writing and case studies. ASCS | Together – The Pink October Campaign
October is the month dedicated to raising breast cancer awareness and ASCS are holding a variety of fundraising events in aid of Pink October. Two events are already up and there are more to come so keep an eye out on their page!

- Who’s got the Popcorn? – This is their second initiative and it will be a Virtual Movie Night! More details are to be followed but you can fill in the form to reserve a spot here!
Aside from the Pink October Campaign, ASCS is also organising a Book Sale to sell your old Bcom or Business & IT textbooks. Freshers’ will instantly start looking for books to buy for their units so why not make it easier for them and for you? Get in touch here!

Sam Christie – SR Sunday

The Impact of COVID19 on the Nation’s Mental Health
We are all pretty much aware of COVID-19, the symptoms and what not, but not everyone is aware of the impact that it leaves on our mental health. Richmond Foundation is hosting their annual conference to tackle the question of mental health. The conference will be exploring the mental health impact of social and economic measures on different groups in Malta.
