It was 25 years ago, precisely in 1990, that Home Alone was released. The story of this film revolves around Kevin McCallister (Macaulay Culkin), an 8-year-old boy who is constantly picked on by his siblings and cousins. Whilst departing to Paris on a family vacation, Kevin, the youngest sibling, is mistakenly forgotten at home. Whilst Kevin is thrilled to have the house for himself, Harry (Joe Pesci) and Marv (Marc Merchants), two neighbourhood burglars, have different plans for Kevin.
We all know what happens next and how the story unfolds, what most of us don’t know is what became of Kevin McCallister since then.
Relation with Michael Jackson
Soon after the first Home Alone film, a friendship evolved between the King of Pop and Culkin, who also starred in the music video of Jackson’s Black and White. When Jackson was accused of child molestation, Culkin took the witness stand and admitted that he had shared a bedroom with Jackson, in Jackson’s Estate, "Neverland’. However, Culkin insisted that no sexual encounter had ever taken place between the two.
Relation with his parents
At the age of 14, Culkin announced that he was quitting acting. The decision was mainly based on his father’s attitude, who, in spite of the fact that his son’s career funded his luxurious lifestyle, wasn’t happy with Culkin and his siblings. Culkin described his father as, "overbearing. Very controlling. He was always the way he is, even before my success. He’d play mind games to make sure I knew my place.’
During his parents’ divorce, the two spouses were eager to get their son’s $11 million, but this was to no avail, and consequently his father quit communication with him.
Love life and drug addiction
Culkin’s marriage with his childhood sweetheart, Rachel Miller, only lasted two years. These separated in 2000, and in the same year Culkin embarked on a relationship with American actress, Mila Kunis.
Two years later, in 2004, fourteen years after the first edition of Home Alone, Culkin was arrested for possession of Marijuana and Xanax. Soon, rumours started spreading that he was suffering a heroin addiction.
Today
Following an untruthful Internet hoax that he was dead, Culkin is fit and working in the movie industry again. He seems to have found his soul mate, Jordon Lane Price.
