We Make a Life by What we Give

We have come to live in a world where what we own, defines us. While some may be okay with that, the sad thing is that we are so consumed in the world of materiality that sometimes we tend to forget our humanity, and put our own materialistic needs and wants on top of more pressing matters at hand.

Taking a look at this video, it is hard to believe that normal people on the streets of New York are unwilling to share their food with a teenager who asks them for a slice of pizza, but a homeless man who was given half a pizza, was more than eager to share his treasure with a stranger who asks him for a piece. This leads me to believe that, unluckily, the more we have, the more we want and the less we tend to reach down and help those that are below us.

We need to open our eyes and start pulling people up with us, rather than just pushing them down to achieve personal new heights. We make a living by what we get. We make a life by what we give.
