For the first time in the University of Malta Futsal club’s history, they have secured a spot in the League Semi-Finals
This Friday, a game between Valletta FC Futsal and University of Malta Futsal resulted in a 2-2 draw. Dylan Musu and Denis Di Maio scored the 2 goals UoM Futsal needed to secure the draw. This result meant that the University club landed third in the domestic elite league and that they also made it to the playoffs phase.
They will now face Valletta once again, this time in he league semi-finals. If UoM Futsal secures a win they will be proceeding to the final stage of the league. In a gleeful post on the club’s Facebook page, they announced the result and thanked all the players, technical staff and all the committee for everyone’s hard work throughout the season.
The Third Eye got in touch with UoM Futsal President Kurt Rizzo to see what this achievement means exactly for the club.
Reaching the semi-finals of the league and also the knockout is a fantastic achievement for this organisation. We have managed to push ourselves to reach the third spot for the very first time in the clubs’ history.
Looking forward, Rizzo continued, urging the University student body to support the club.
I am certain that our boys will give their all to try and get a place in the finals too. Now I strongly urge University students to come and support us in these much-awaited semi-finals
The play-offs are scheduled for the 18th and 20th March at the National Sports School, Pembroke.
