Yesterday, the University of Malta Futsal Team ended their season with a memorable win at the Corradino Pavillion. They went against the local Luxol St Andrews Futsal Club and came out with a staggering 5-2 victory. With the team having been formed only four years ago, this was a great achievement for the team as they won their first cup.
Team Captain Matthew Gatt said:
It was a magical experience. We managed to beat all of the top teams in Malta along the way, including current champions Valletta, and former champions Luxol. We always believed that we stood a chance in the final. We had nothing to lose and the players trained very hard in order to perfect their game beforehand. When we were playing, we stuck to our plan, defended excellently and attacked ruthlessly. It was an amazing run this year, and we should all thank each other for the sacrifices that were made. None of this would have been possible without the utmost effort of everyone involved, from the players, to the coaches, committee, and supporters.
