It’s not just big businesses, publishers, foreign creators and established ones at Malta Comic Con! Check out fellow UoM students that will be exhibiting their talent, passion and art this year – and more importantly go show some love!
Katya Azzopardi
Soon an ex-UM student – Katya’s graduating with a BFA in Digital Arts this December. She specializes in illustration and graphic design. She evokes unique fictional worlds and characters by combining the use of traditional media with multiple digital approaches. She takes inspiration from graphic novels, game concept art and animation, and her style varies accordingly.
Lisa Hirth
Lisa gravitates towards whimsical landscapes and portraits in her art, and always tries to balance her love for both traditional and digital art. This comic con she’s embracing her inner geek and will be mostly selling prints of K-pop heartthrobs BTS, and some Studio Ghibli and cartoon-inspired artworks too. She’s reading a BA in History of Art and Fine Art with English; so you know she knows her art.
Rebecca Zammit
Having almost pursued computing – Rebecca is now studying Digital Arts and in pursuit of graphic design and illustration. She has a strong passion for traditional media and is evidently cut out for it as her detailed watercolour and pen illustrations can vouch. However, she has been recently experimenting with digital art and character illustrations to avoid the mess traditional media entails!
Samwel Borg
MCAST graduate, UM Digital Arts student, 1-Up Media Officer, self-taught animator, digital artist – lest we say more? Having always shown a passion for art and proved his talent later on, Samwel explored practically everything the discipline entailed. He eventually exhibited his love and talent for drawing, writing, animation, and digital art collectively in a number of short animations!
Shawn Cauchi
A soon-to-be Digital Arts graduate, and practically a Comic Con professional by this point – having already exhibited his work at the event 4 times. Being confident in both traditional and digital media, Shawn also occasionally experiments with mixtures of the two as well. His inspiration mostly draws from anime and manga, as can be assumed from his fantastical, otherworldly masterpieces.
Vincianne Scerri
A second-year BFA in Digital Arts student studying Animation who prefers to go by Vincy. Her art style reminisces Japanese anime and manga, western animation and Harajuku/J-fashion. Visit her stand this year to get a taste of both her original work as well as fan-art. Having exhibited her work at last year’s Con as well as this year’s Mini Summerfest Comic Con, she’s on her way to Comic Con expert status!
Violeta Toncheva
Violeta is a digital arts student to be present at Comic Con for her second time as an exhibitor! Her art revolves around fiction relating to people, places and creatures, whilst her style varies from high realism to Western comic-esque. You’ll probably see Violeta in the credits of a film or videogame as she aspires to become a freelance conceptual artist in these industries.
