The Third Eye team has been contacted by a student at the University of Malta upon having spotted a van belonging to Signal 8 Security, with no required Badge, parked on a parking space specifically reserved for ’Disabled Badge Holders Only.’
All students know how frustrating it is to find parking at University, since the blue boxes are filled up quickly and emptied at a much slower rate. In addition, all students who come to University with their car, know how even more frustrating it is to go back after a day of lectures to find your car clampled.
We do acknowledge the need to have some sort of regulation on Campus, but if the Security Staff are not hesitant to clamp students when they park outside of the boxes or without their permit, then why aren’t they as quick to clamp other staff who park within reserved parking spaces?
This media organisation has contacted Signal 8 Security Company with the hope to get some justifiable reason as to why this van occupied such a reserved parking space, depriving it from the drivers who might have really needed it.
Signal 8 representative told The Third Eye that their staff uses these vans for patrol around the University, to ensure that there are no cars parked wrongly. She explained how probably the driver had to leave the van there in order to carry out his job i.e. to clamp cars where necessary.
