Following the Annual General Meeting hosted on the 8th of May and with the final decision on the role of Public Relations Officer, UESA has announced their new Executive Board for the upcoming term.
An online election was held for the role of Public Relations Officer. The two nominees were Katrina Mugliett and Jamie Buttigieg. From a total of 75 votes and with a 41 vote difference, Katrina Mugliett is officially elected as the Public Relations Officer.
And with that, the newly elected Executive Board goes as follows:
- President – Thomas Galea
- Vice President – Sarah Mifsud
- Financial Officer – Cheryl Gilford
- Secretary General – Jeremy Farrugia
- Public Relations Officer – Katrina Mugliett
- Events Officer – Erik Micallef
- International Officer – Erika Spiteri Bailey
- Education Officer – Michelle Desira
- Industrial Officer – Kurt Spiteri
- Social Policy Officer – Beppe Galea-Curmi
- Board Members – Karl Zammit, Julian Farrugia
Having been elected as president, Thomas Galea shared his thoughts with The Third Eye on his new role.
The past couple of years have seen UESA relentlessly improving itself. The organisation has had some of its best years, with events that are bigger and better than what we could have ever hoped for. International trips and conferences, some of the largest leisure events on campus such as The Fresher’s Rave, and EUPA funded initiatives just to mention a few. This is something I owe to the outgoing executive – their hard work is bearing fruit as UESA has established itself as one of the most prominent organisations on campus.
Looking back at the work that has been done before him, Galea is proud of the student body at the Faculty of Engineering and is determined to keep on working for an even better organisation.
Engineering students are proving themselves to be some of the most active students on campus despite the stereotypes – evident from the recent KSU elections. As the newly elected President, I can only aspire to continue building on the great work done before me – especially to continue working on the Engineering warrant issue, and to provide support for the student body at the Faculty of Engineering in these uncertain times. I hope to continue the initiatives that were worked on in the past whilst also looking to expand the organisation to new horizons. I wish the best to the outgoing executive, and look forward to the year ahead!
The Third Eye would like to congratulate the new team!
