April is progressing and with just a handful of days left for KSU’s (Kunsill Studenti Universitarji) Annual General Meeting to be held next Wednesday, SDM (Studenti Demokristjani Maltin) shall be launching their campaign and this year’s chosen candidates on Monday for the upcoming KSU elections.
The student organisation has kept its campaign idea, together with its list of candidates on the down low, yet, internal sources have informed The Third Eye that SDM’s slogan this year is said to be "INKOMPLU’ (We Resume).
To no one’s surprise, two candidates who are very likely to be contesting the KSU elections on the SDM ticket are Andrew Muscat and Rebecca Micallef, who are currently occupying the roles of Social Policy Coordinator and Social Policy Commissioner respectively.
In addition to this, other members of the current KSU Executive Board, including the present KSU International Officer, Steph Dalli and the International Coordinator, Daniel Vella, are both believed to be re-contesting these elections on the SDM ticket. The present KSU PRO (Public Relations Officer), Andrew Borg Wirth is also planning a second term within the KSU Executive, while Ryan Falzon, who like Rebecca Micallef did not contest for the KSU Elections, but was elected by the Executive as Educational Commissioner, is a notable favourite to contest for the first time this year.
But there are also some new faces, according to our sources, one of whom is Gilbert Amato Gauci, who after his contribution in TSA (Tourism Students Association), in the MUSC (Malta University Sports Club) and in the University Futsal Team (Mdina Knights), he shall now be trying his luck as a candidate for a role within the highest university entity.
Becky Dalli, who currently occupies the role of MHSA (Malta Health Students Association) President and within which she has served different roles throughout the years, is also likely to be contesting for the upcoming KSU Elections on behalf of SDM.
Our sources also speculate that "We Are’’s President, Emma Portelli Bonnici, is being considered as a likely candidate on the SDM side, as is GUG’s (Grupp Universitarji Ghawdxin) Financial Officer, Philip Mizzi.
All in all, these speculations suggest that, if SDM emerges winner of the upcoming elections, and all its candidates are elected on April 23rd, there should be a total of 6 people who have already served in the KSU Executive Board, which explains SDM’s slogan, "INKOMPLU’.
