Sultana Confirmed as Head Coach, Cutajar to Replace Sammut

After a challenging season, where the club on Campus found it hard to adapt to the new league format, the University Futsal Team, a brainchild of the Malta University Sports Club (MUSC) and Kunsill Studenti Universitarji (KSU) playing under the auspices of Mdina Knights Football Club held its Annual General Meeting on Saturday 14th May, in order to conclude this season and kick off the next.

The outgoing Committee presented its reports to the members present, and spoke of the great improvements that were carried out in many aspects of the club’s Administration, branding and the overall professionality of the squad’s setup. The University Futsal Team broadened its reach with University students and Futsal fans around the island through professional marketing campaigns and several innovative events, and the positive turnover presented in the financial report was a testament to the success of the committee in procuring new sponsors.   A healthy discussion ensued about the future of the club with several amendments to the Statute being proposed to attain a balance between University representation and flexibility when it comes to registering players outside of Campus. The AGM was concluded with the election of the committee for the season 2016/17.

The committee for season 2016/17 shall be composed of:

President: Stefan Cutajar

Vice-President: Luca Caruana

Secretary General: Ayrton Saffrett

Treasurer: Martina Camilleri

PRO: Jasmine Agius

Events Manager: Nicholas Martinelli

External Officer: Nicole Agius

Sales and Marketing Manager: Daniel Balzan

Team Manager : Jurgen D’Amato

Meanwhile, Kyle Sultana was confirmed as Head Coach

The outgoing committee said that the club has great margins of growth and despite a season which saw the Knights narrowly fail to attain a playoff spot in the 1st Division; there is a sense of optimism following a great string of results at the end of the season.   The Club is committed to continue in its holistic approach to the sport, as it works to keep on building a community rather than focus on individuals, and shall keep representing students in the most professional and committed way possible.
