Students with Autism or other Disabilities can now Enter University without Specific Qualifications

The University Senate has amended regulations so as to widen academic opportunities to students who have encountered difficulties in pursuing a course at the University of Malta.

As of October 2017, students who suffer from autism or any other disability of the sort can apply to attend a course even if such student does not meet the necessary requirements. This new clause will be applicable in cases whereby the lacking qualification necessary to pursue a course, does not impact the chosen course of studies and is a consequence of the disability of the student.

This means that the University will be accepting students without the necessary qualifications on a case by case basis, given that there are various disabilities besides autism which are not as common. The ultimate aim is to create a more inclusive education system whilst tackling the obstacles that hinder students from reaching their goals.
