What is the actual difference between a discreet woman wearing a simple t-shirt and a pair of jeans and a woman wearing a low-cut body-con dress that flaunts her breasts together with a pair of stilettos? Although they might have the same curvy body shape, they relay a different image. A great amount of men tend to be more attracted to the woman wearing the "sexy’ dress, which barely allows her to sit down comfortably without fidgeting with the length of her skirt. Is it because it might compliment her figure and show off her curves more, or is it because they think she is more accessible?
Throughout the years there has been the constant perception that in order to feel good in your own skin, women should wear sexy clothes that show off their bodies. Unfortunately, this has frequently been done in a kind of vulgar way, where a number of women portray themselves as easy to men by the way they act and dress. This is quite clear in most of the clubs, nowadays, where women tend to trot around in their super high heels, showing off their cleavage and dance, well, if you can actually call it dancing as most just rub their bodies together to try and attract someone. Are women losing their own self respect and dignity in desperation to be admired by men?
This clearly shows that women think that in order to attract a man’s attention, they need to show off their upper body assets. This may be the cause of the male fixation on breasts. From a pair of bags of fat to a desirable attraction, breasts are quite a mystery to why men are so attracted to them. This fascination, according to Larry Young, professor of psychiatry at Emory University, “is a brain organization effect that occurs in straight males when they go through puberty”. Men are the only male mammals who are sexually captivated by breasts. This may be because it forms a sexual bond between the male and female, similar to the mother-and-child bond.
Furthermore, showing off women’s cleavage can also be the reason why a great number of men constantly describe women as sex objects, only taking into account their breasts and bottoms and ignore what are actually the essential aspects that truly make up a beautiful person – their soul, their deep insight, their mannerisms, their eyes and mind. When was it the last time that you have heard a random man actually describe a woman without using sexual innuendoes?
When are we, women, going to stand up and do exactly what we want and not act to please some male chauvinist? When are we going to believe in ourselves and in our assets? We are all perfect in our own ways. Unfortunately nowadays most women are unhappy with what nature provided them and very frequently turn to cosmetic surgery to attain their ideal. Gone are the days when men used to state that “more than a mouthful is a waste!”. This is clearly depicted in the drastic measures taken by certain women to feed some man’s fantasy and not truly because this is what they envisage for a perfect body.
We, as women, have special abilities that go much deeper than the size of our breasts. All women should be proud of their breasts no matter what the size. A woman’s breast was created to sustain a neonate with all that is necessary for its existence hence the role of the breast does not lie with the size.
