Nine students from St. Aloysius’ 6th Form who share a close bond got together and started a new Social Enterprise – Orange. As a team dedicated to making a difference, we created a new application — SelFeed that allows its users to share pictures of their food while dining at selected restaurants and in turn, get a voucher or a discount on their meal.
Here’s how it works: SelFeed is an Android application which raises awareness for food-related causes, through collaboration with diverse companies in the hospitality industry. The aim is to provide clients with a variety of discounts and offers which may be redeemed at outlets of these same companies. SelFeed is an application that gives one the benefit of going to the affiliated restaurants on our application, and after completing a few steps, gets a discount or voucher on the meal. Before redeeming the discount, one has to complete six simple steps. The application also includes step by step instructions to help users interact with the app in a more comfortable way.
Half of the profits will be going towards the charity Food Bank Malta, which helps people within our community that are in need of emergency food assistance.
What is "Orange’?
Here at Orange, we believe in making a difference and helping to put an end to world hunger. Since charity begins at home, we thought it best to donate to a local charity. Half of our proceedings will be going to the charity Food Bank Malta which helps people within our community that are in need of emergency food assistance. In fact, the name of the company, Orange, is also the colour of world hunger. Our logo also contains a fingerprint as we believe in change, a change which can be done with just one small touch. Little efforts make big differences!
Our main aim as a young enterprise company is to function, as larger businesses do, by achieving market recognition and a certain amount of profit, while also being able to make a difference and help work towards solving an issue that we are very passionate about. Through our app, SelFeed, we would like to build a positive relationship with our customers and enhance their dining experience at our affiliated restaurants.
