SDM Host a University Silent Protest

SDM have ceased to remain silent after the shocking news that made the  headlines; Frederick Ofosu, a Ghanaian migrant was found strangled with an electric cable on Saturday night.

In the light of such terrible news as well as with regards to  the current local immigration situation, SDM are holding a Silent Protest at University Quadrangle tomorrow at 6pm, urging all people, especially students, to join in solidarity towards these human lives of African citizens who are currently living on edge, not knowing what is going to happen next of their families.

The #arewehuman is the trait of this whole silent protest, emphasising that we are all human beings irrespective of where we come from, and as Neil Smart Costantino says in the video launched by SDM to encourage people to join the protest; “humanity is the one thing which connects all the 7 billion people in this world , let’s not be the ones to deny them from every other individual.”

This man took away his life out of fear of being deported back to a place where he was oppressed. Tomorrow, each and everyone of us has the opportunity to stand up for the desperate souls which await a  blurred and scary future.
