Say no to disposable cups! | KSJC's new travel mug initiative

As promised in the manifesto, KSJC will be focusing on a number of environmental issues going around Junior College. Recently, they announced their first initiative in an effort to reduce the use of disposable cups.

“This newly introduced green initiative is only the start of what is yet to come. The main idea behind this green initiative is to encourage students to adopt this lifestyle of reduction whilst benefiting from price discounts. At the back of our minds, we always had the idea of decreasing the number of plastic items used by the school canteen”.

Kleaven Pisani

KSJC have partnered up with both the school canteen and with the renowned ‘Lemon Lime and Orange’, in order to put forward this proposal. On the presentation of a travel mug whilst ordering a hot beverage, the students will be benefitting from a reduced price. This initiative will benefit both parties as the amount of waste generated will be lower and outlets will spend much less on the purchasing of cups and lids.

Aside from this initiative, Pisani promised that as a council they will keep on improving the current environmental issues. Various cleanups, green campaigns, tree planting, offers, incentives and much more will be hosted throughout the year ahead.

Pisani added;

“As a council, we have placed environmental improvement on our priority list because we believe that, as small as our community is, we can join together and play our part in saving our beloved home”.

This initiative is officially valid and all students are able to benefit from it. So grab your fancy travel mug and ditch the plain disposable cup. A small change can make a big difference!
