S-Cubed’s executive consists of science students from different courses within the Faculty who work voluntarily throughout the year to organise activities that will enrich the student experience on campus. S-Cubed works to encourage the development of an environment more conducive to the advancement of science and to extend its reach outside University to popularise science.
Throughout the past year, S-Cubed has sought to bring science closer to students with events such as "Eureka at the President’s Secret Garden’. Since interest in our subjects among students continued to flourish throughout the year, as science students, we felt the need to flame this interest amongst a more mature crowd. We have done this by collaborating with other entities and have been part of SiTC and also CineXjenza. We have also been invited over the past years to contiribute to Notte Bianca.
All this has led to the birth of a new idea — a day of experiments outside of labs – the usual environment. This event, with the name of "Summer Science Spectacle’, shall take place at Piazza Tigne on the 29th of July. This day of interactive conduction of experiments shall comprise of two sessions; a morning session which is mainly aimed at different summer schools, yet, youngsters are more than welcome to join. The evening session shall be open to all and shall commence at 17:00 and shall run until 19:30. This session is still aimed towards a more mature crowd with some complex experiments; however, children shall also be catered for.
