Ryan Micallef Returns After Six Months on the Sidelines

As the list of player selected for the match against Sliema was published on the official Facebook page of UoM Futsal, it contained a name which has been out for quite some time — Ryan Micallef.

Micallef has been out for more than six months now, after suffering a fibula injury back in September during a friendly match.

And tonight, six months and two operations later, Ryan shall be returning on the pitch. The opponent for tonight’s match is not a common one for Micallef, the very same opponent against whom he suffered an injury which kept him out for six months on the sidelines, Sliema.

“I am very excited to be back after having to remain out for six long months,” spoke Micallef exclusively to The Third Eye. “These months were very difficult, primarily because I thought that I was going to miss the whole season when it hadn’t yet started and secondly because I was unable to give my input to the squad.”

“I hope that we’re able to win tonight’s match because we definitely deserve this,” exclaimed Ryan. “On a final note, I would like to thanks my coach, the players, our committee and especially our supporters for the constant support they gave me, both when I was hospitalized and also when I resumed training!”
