Following The Third Eye’s article "Pulse to Contest KSU Elections’, SDM President Gabriel Micallef provided his reaction to this news on behalf of SDM.
Micallef explainded that,
“Although I have not been informed about Pulse’s decision to contest the election, I am delighted to hear this news and not only encourage Pulse to put forward their ideas but also invite them to meet us to discuss what we can achieve together.
SDM has always been in the forefront of student activism at all the institutions we represent. SDM has always led an active role at The University of Malta and all the institutions that fall under it since our inception way back in 1974 and we intend to continue working on what we have achieved these past 43 years.
Together with the new SDM executive we are finalising new initiatives and ideas which we will be launching soon in the run up to the KSU election. We will not be reinventing the wheel – but we will be launching new and exciting ideas that will definitely be in the interest of each and every student!
We aspire to involve all the students in some form or another. However, although I cannot divulge any information, I can also confirm that SDM will be contesting the KSU election as we have always done, and we have already confirmed a number of candidates who will be representing SDM in the next KSU Election.
We are really looking forward to this year’s election as it is not only a time where we look back at what we achieved together and what we can achieve, but it is also a great way of involving students in our projects on Campus!”
