Speaking with The Third Eye, student organisation Pulse commented that welcomes with open arms the recent ban on gay conversion therapy after being the FIRST student organisation to have voiced its belief and opinion on this issue.
Pulse was the first student organisation to release a press-release about the topic, on the 22nd of February of this year, where Pulse openly condemned gay conversion therapy, after having already released a statement about the topic in December 2015.
As mentioned in a press release made public on December 19th of 2015, Pulse agreed with conversion therapy “being nullified as it is both useless and demeaning to the individual concerned.”
In February’s press release, Pulse urged the public to fully understand the repercussions of gay conversion therapy and called upon the country to keep pushing limits and setting examples in LGBT rights.
When asked for comments from The Third Eye, Pulse’s Secretary General Julian Guillaumier explained that in terms of the organisations’ progressive beliefs, it has been another very positive week as we have seen issues which Pulse was proactive upon from the start, being ratified. “One can mention yesterday’s ban on gay conversion therapy, the age of consent bill and the Sette Giugno monument, whereby Pulse was the first and only student political organisation to voice its opinion in this regard,” explained Guillaumier.
