Earlier today, student organisation Pulse posted a Facebook note condemning negative allegations made by Studenti Demokristjani Maltin (SDM).
Pulse believes that whilst both student organisations seemed to be leading positive campaigns at the beginning of this scholastic year in the interest of all G. F. Abela Junior College students, a Facebook status posted by SDM Vice-President, Gabriel Micallef, brought this positive attitude to an abrupt end.
The post alleged that Pulse was glorifying recent vandalism on the work of Kunsill Studenti Junior College (KSJC). Pulse believes that Micallef’s position on attacking a student organisation on the basis of the actions of a single member is ironic when bearing in mind the position of last year’s SDM Vice-President, Ian Zahra. Last year, Zahra stated that SDM disassociates itself from the actions of one of its members, Micallef himself.
Furthermore, Pulse stated that vandalising the project being addressed is definitely not in the interest of the organisation as the project saw its initial phases when Pulse was in KSJC in 2005.
Pulse clarified its position, stating that it will maintain its professional campaign and will not yield to SDM’s tactics. Meanwhile, it will strive to focus on being productive both for the organisation’s sake and that of its members.
In the words of Pulse President, Wayne Sammut:
