On Saturday, 24th September, the European Commission Representation in Malta will be celebrating the European Day of Languages in St. Anne Square, Sliema, between 19:00 and 21:00. For the fourth consecutive year, the Ghaqda tal-Malti — Universita will be helping in the organisation of this event.
A number of representatives from languages schools, organisations and embassies include the Spanish Embassy, the Deaf People Association (Malta), Russian Centre for Science and Culture in Malta, Malta University Language School, DESA, the National Book Council (Malta), HOASA and Alliance Francaise.
Those present will have the opportunity to listen to readings in various languages, primarily by William Shakespeare on the 400th anniversary of his death. The general public is also encouraged to attend and also to leave a short message, in any desired language during this wonderful feast of languages! The evening will come to an end with a monologue from Macbeth translated by Alfred Palma, and acted out by Antonella Axisa under the direction of Immanuel Misfud. A number of linguistic freebees will also be distributed.
Thanks goes to the Sliema Local Council, Teatru Salesjan and the National Book Council.
