Goodbye Blogging, Hello YouTube!
I blogged about fashion for nearly three years – "Boffism’, in case you ever read it – until I started feeling like it was time to move on. I felt like I had achieved all that I wanted to achieve as a blogger, and now it was time to climb the next step and take on a bigger challenge: YouTube. Blogging had become very "fat’ for me and I used to feel that there was a lot of potential I wasn’t using. I also wanted to do other things that weren’t related to fashion. So, I decided to aim higher. Now I do YouTube on an online channel called "It’s Lara Marie’.
"It’s Lara Marie’ as an online TV channel!
"It’s Lara Marie’ is an online TV channel on YouTube. Every season, I work on a host of series, naturally divided into different episodes. These series can touch on a variety of subjects, as I don’t want to focus simply on fashion. I think that in today’s fast-paced world, online video is slowly replacing traditional TV. You can tune in at any time you want and watch it wherever you desire as long as you are connected to the internet. And let’s face it, it’s high time we start seeing some new faces on a screen…!
The Power of Video!
Video is an incredibly powerful medium. The more I work on it, the more I understand why I felt so limited as a blogger. I feel YouTube allows me to convey my personality a lot more, it helps me create more concise content, and allows a lot more creative freedom. Viewers engage more and relate a whole lot better to a personality in a video, rather than someone behind a keyboard. It has all the odds to create lasting impact and you can reach to a wider audience as well. I already reached nearly 2,300,000 views on Google which is unbelievable for me!!
Current Schedule
I shall be running a short 6-week schedule starting from August 17th till the end of September consisting of three series. The first, Beauty Blender (out every Monday), is a program aimed at all those who like to learn and keep updated on all things beauty, make-up and hair care related. Each episode is divided into slots which update viewers with any events that happen locally, any new products available on the market, questions, tips, tricks and a special slot dedicated to "the product of the week’. Fashion Fix (out every Saturday) is targeted towards fashion lovers. In every episode, I discuss a particular subject whilst giving practical suggestions on fashion and style. I also devote a part of the programme to any local fashion news and events that viewers need to know about. My favourite series, probably, is Unimpressed (out on Thursdays), where I just allow myself to rant on anything that leaves me unimpressed, hoping that other people relate to my nagging and understand how deeply unamused I can be sometimes. I am also launching a new website (www.itslaramarie.com) to enhance the viewing experience. The site offers the possibility of viewing specific episodes as well as entire series. Past series can be found in the archive section and viewers can also check out behind the scenes material as well!
Plans for the Future!
I shall be launching a new schedule at the end of September. I’m afraid I can’t reveal much at the moment, but I hope to get as many people to jump on the band wagon as much as possible.
