One of the latest introductions to the Maltese music scene, The Shack, is a musical project that brought together Peter Borg from Redelectrick and Wayne Camilleri: two local guitarists highly regarded for a number of musical projects and performances.
Their unique first tune features none other than vocal powerhouse and songwriter Eliza Borg Rizzo, who is known across the country for a variety of lead roles in both band and theatre productions. In recent years Eliza has established herself as the lead singer, vocal melody composer and lyricist of the beloved world-touring maltese band, Tribali.
Well-made plans and the ususal genre brainstorms hardly had anything to do with the inception of this new musical experience. Rather, this project owes itself to a casual afternoon jam, during which Eliza and Peter joined Wayne at his studio.
Written by The Shack and Eliza, and produced and mixed by Peter Borg at Railway Studios, New York City presents itself as a fresh—sounding cross over between reggae, dub and pop with smooth rythms and guitars. The track is accompanied by catchy vocal melodies and ”in-your-face” lyrics.
Supporting the music is a colourful and emotive music vÃdeo produced by Matthew James Borg and Edouard Tabone Demarco at Railway Studios. Current, street and fun are the three words which best describe this production. New York City will really get you moving. So, get on your dancing shoes and groove to this tune!
