NEW Pokémon, Call of Duty and Star Wars Games In The Works | 1UP

Recently, it feels as if the cinema industry and movies have been getting all the spotlight, mostly thanks to Avengers: Endgame. So we thought we’d take a bit of an aside and take a little twirl in the world of Gaming and find out what’s on the news menu.

We start with EA, a company that seems to almost always be in the news. This time, it’s for yet another Star Wars game. Recently, EA announced that they were working on the title Star Wars: Jedi Fallen Order.

The story takes place after Star Wars III: Revenge of the Sith and is assumed to rotate on the story of Jedi padawan Cal Kestis, one of the few remaining Jedi remaining after the galaxy-wide purge of Order 66. EA is apparently expecting to make big bucks from this title, with their estimates pointing between 6 million and 8 million copies sold.

Also, EA has a new Need for Speed game in the works, but little to no information has been released about it.

Next up, Call of Duty. Many are speculating that the next Call of Duty, even though not confirmed, will be the fourth iteration of their popular Modern Warfare series.

Ever since the series original release 12 years ago, which was the fourth installment of the whole franchise, the modern Warfare series has remained a popular cow to milk for Activision.

Some of the strongest clues are the fact that Infinity Ward, one of the main studios working with Activision on the franchise, has reenlisted five developers which have had a history working with them on older Modern Warfare games. Many people are speculating that this is fundamental proof that indicates that Modern Warfare 4 is in the works if not the next game.

And lastly, Pokémon. Recently, DeNA (the Japanese developer working on Pokémon right now) announced that a new game, Pokémon Sword and Shield, had been announced for the Nintendo Switch.

Now, DeNA has announced that another game will be developed, but this one will be for the mobile platform. It will be launched in a couple of months and will be the first Pokémon game for mobiles ever since the world famous Pokémon Go was launched. This game will go hand in hand with DeNA’s other titles releasing this year, such as a mobile adaption for Mario Kart called Mario Kart Tour.

Little has been released on this new Pokémon game, but most are hoping it will be a return to the original style Pokémon RPG layout, maybe with a tie-in to Sword and Shield. This definitely comes at a good time with Pokémon: Detective Pikachu releasing in theatres.
