Tonight, Malta Medical Students Association (MMSA) has released a press release from its official Facebook page in which the organisation asked for “Concrete Action on Barts’ Medical School”.
In this press release, MMSA expressed its disappointment to the fact that, to the contrary of what they were promised, Mater Dei Hospital is not going to remain exclusively for University of Malta Students, but now it will also be available to Barts’ Medical Students.
Being that there is already a substantial number of students in the medical course, MMSA’s press release explains that it is already a struggle to find the adequate number of rooms for the different fields of Medicine and Surgery.
Contacted by The Third Eye, MMSA President Steve Sammut Alessi stated that:
“MMSA, together with KSU and the Faculty Representatives, is working hard to ensure that the level of education and clinical attachments does not get affected by the introduction of Barts in Malta.
We are in discussion with a number of stakeholders, with whom we will continue to strive to keep the interests of the University of Malta Medical Students always first.”
