MHSA’s new initiative is uniting students in times of crisis | Student Hub

On the 18th of April, MHSA proudly announced the launch of their new initiative: Student Hub. This initiative aims to maintain and strengthen the community that was once built among the students. In a time of crisis, it is important to unite and support one another.

MHSA was keeping in touch with the Head of Department of Nursing, Dr. Cassar before launching the Student Hub. Karen Louise Stoner, MHSA President, stated that Dr. Cassar “has been really helpful throughout this crisis and constantly checking in with MHSA. She gave us information about the faculty being utilised for a different purpose and that this might be for quite a while.”

After discussing the challenges of online learning, Dr. Cassar put forward some concerns that students had been approaching her with, as did MHSA.

When we reflected as the administrative board of MHSA about how we can reach our students on a singular platform, we reminisced about or favourite parts of the faculty. The idea then sort of all came together of things that were able to be digitalised. It is in no way a replacement of the faculty but at least the closest we can get at this moment.

The Student Hub can be assessed by clicking here and selecting the first tab “Student Hub“. One will come across the various courses run by the faculty and sub-sections on each one of them. The sub-sections consist of:

Faculty Contacts

From the Dean of the faculty to individual lecturers, all will be listed in order to provide easier communication with every lecturer assigned.

The Library

This library is built by the students to the students. Any interesting articles or information a student comes across can just drop it off via the student hub contact email.

Dissertations

Previous students have kindly shared their dissertations with MHSA in order to assist anyone that is currently working on theirs.

Past Papers

These past papers have been taken via sample papers or previous years’ papers. These serve as a guideline as exam formats are subject to change every year.

Writer’s Corner

MHSA wishes to encourage students to engage even more and research topics they are interested in. Their work will then be published in this section.

Faculty Foyer

The Faculty Foyer is known to be brightened up with smiling faces or even, venting sessions among the colleagues. For this reason, MHSA will be putting up regular chat forums among cohorts to catch up and share concerns, laughs, memes and more.

Although this initiative was launched due to unforeseen circumstances, MHSA does not plan on closing it down once all of this passes.

We aim to keep this resource, even when normality settles back in. The students have shown a real appreciation and interaction with the Student Hub so far and we hope this will continue to grow and their contributions will be the key to facilitate this.
