Maltese Citizens Protest on Castille’s Steps and write a letter to Malta.

In light of Daphne Caruana Galizia’s horrible death last Monday, Maltese Citizens who feel concerned about Malta’s democracy, protested on  Castille’s steps. This is the letter these protestors write to their country;

Dear  Malta,

We are sitting here today, not as anyone but simply as ourselves; as Maltese people, students, youth workers, and those who are inheriting this nation from you,  as you have inherited it from those before you.

We are not asking anything outrageous, we simply seek accountability, the rule of law, stability, and for safe-guardes that the place we call home is still a democracy.

We stand here today as one of you,  as Maltese citizens who wish for the law to protect us. We demand a police force we can trust. and turn to when we have been wronged and we want a clear separation of our national institutions, so they, as should be, can act as watch dogs on each other and keep the  balance that is so key for our democracy.

Hence with this in mind, we ask the government to show leadership and reaffirm the trust that the people have given it and remove from their responsibilities both the Attorney General and the Police Commissioner. For the reasons that they have not fulfilled their responsibilities to the state and failed us all.

Sincerely,

Maltese Citizens
