Yesterday marked another achievement for Malta as Rebecca Fitz managed to place first in the 100m women hurdles in the European Games that are being held in Baku, Azerbaijan.
Fitz managed to come first with a time of 16.37 seconds. She was followed by Montenegro’s Matovic and Macedonia’s Dimitrieska, who placed second and third respectively.
When contacted by The Third Eye, Rebecca Fitz said that this was her first time participating in such a big event.
“Stepping out on the track and finding all those people watching me was an amazing feeling, especially as everyone cheered for me while appearing on the big screen, ecstatic,” explained Fitz. “The track was different to the ones which I’m used to train upon, I felt lighter.”
Finally, Fitz said that although the result wasn’t the best one she has achieved, she is still delighted that she managed to win the heat.
“It was a great result and I believe that it will help me achieve better results in other competitions in the future,” concluded Fitz.
