Lecturer and Author Dr Mifsud’s Work Recognised by the President on Republic Day

Earlier today, during the annual ceremony of the Republic of Malta, lecturer Dr Immanuel Mifsud was awarded the medal for the Service of the Republic by the President of Malta, Hon. Coleiro Preca.

Dr Immanuel Mifsud, who is a lecturer at both Junior College and the University of Malta, was born in Paola on the 12th of September 1967. At the age of 16, Dr Mifsud started writing poetry and prose and later started experimenting with a multitude of theatre groups. A big amount of Dr Mifsud’s works has been translated and published in various European countries and in the United States of America.

In 2002, his collection of stories, "L-Istejjer Strambi ta’ Sara Sue Sammut’ (Sarah Sue Sammut’s Strange Stories) was awarded the National Book Award, whilst "Fl-Isem tal-Missier u ta’ l-Iben’ (In the Name of the Father and of the Son) was awarded the European Union Prize for Literature in 2011. The latter has been already translated to English and Romanian, and is expected to be published in French and Macedonian in 2015.
