An email which was sent today from the Registrar to University and Junior College students read that the "5 minutes reading time’ is going to “be introduced with immediate effect”.
The email also explained that each exam paper will be carrying information both about the allotted reading time for that specific exam, for example, between 8:30 to 8:35, and also about the actual length of the exam, from 8:35 to 10:35.
The email emphasises that these five minutes will be specifically for reading the questions, and if a student writes anything on his script during this time, disciplinary action will be taken against him.
Speaking to The Third Eye, KSU (Kunsill Studenti Universitatji)’s President Gayle Lynn Callus explained that together with KSU’s Education Office, he had been working about this proposal from the beginning of his term and that they instantly found a lot of positive feedback, both from the University’s Rector and also from the Registrar.
Callus also clarified that these five minutes will not be reduced from the examination time, but they will be an addition specifically for students to read their questions before the start of the examination. Finally, the KSU President said that this procedure shall be commencing from the upcoming June exams.
