KSJC have posted a video earlier today explaining their decisions for how they organised this year’s AGM.
The video was posted amongst criticisms that the application process to attend the KSJC AGM was ineffective. SDM had posted a video this Thursday explaining their criticism.
Liam Cassar, SDM Secretary General, said in the video that a unanimous link to access the AGM should have been sent directly to all students via their email. In response to this, KSJC President, Kleaven Pisani said that they had suggested this in their very first meeting with JC administration when discussing the AGM. The administration told them that it would not be possible due to a lack of human resources. Therefore, KSJC opted to create a Google Form for students to register to attend the AGM.
SDM further criticized KSJC for not dispersing the link to the Google Form enough to reach as many students as possible. SDM claimed that the link was only posted in the description link of the event. They also noted that the notice sent out by JC administration to register for the AGM was sent out less than an hour before the deadline closed. They also criticized KSJC for posting late reminders regarding the deadline for registration, only a few hours before the deadline.
With regards to SDM’s questions of how the votes during the AGM will be held, KSJC clarified that the polling system on Zoom will be used.
Finally, in response to the rushed nature of the application process, KSJC clarified that the details of those registered on the Google Form had to be sent to JC Administration in time so that they could have enough time to confirm that all of the applicants were students.
SDM criticized how KSJC went about this process and speculated why the council took so long to announce their AGM. The organisation further emphasised the right of all JC students to be present at the AGM and be well-informed about the work of their council.
