Some statements are simply undeniable. For instance, to say that the world revolves around the sun is undeniable and to say that the universe started from the Big Bang explosion is also undeniable.
Just the same, saying that the Kunsill Nazzjonali Zghazagh (KNZ) has been in chaos for ages, is just as undeniable. Over the past years, various conflicts emerged in the KNZ, most of which, surprisingly enough, involved Andrew Micallef, the outgoing KNZ President.
Thankfully, the sun always shines after a storm and it seems that finally KNZ will be turning a new leaf as 11 people will be contesting for the 11 vacant roles within the KNZ executive board. All of the 11 individuals are new faces for the KNZ, apart from ELSA Malta’s nominee Michael Piccinino, who previously occupied the role of National Officer.
The rest of the people who will be contesting for KNZ are Monique Agius (Greenhouse), Jasmine Farrugia and Naomi Bugre, both of them from JEF Malta, William Vella (JP2 Youths), Graham Sansone (U.M.Y.S), Sean Ellul, who occupied the role of Social Policy Commissioner from 2014 to 2015 within the Junior College Students’ Council, Eman Borg (LGBTI+ Gozo), Sara Ezabe (MUFC), Martina Camilleri (MUSC) and Neil Smart Costantino, who currently occupies the role of Secretary General within the SDM executive board.
In the meantime, the national youth parliament is working tirelessly for their upcoming session in September, irrespective of the ongoing changes within the council. The next big step for the council is on the 27th August whereby a general meeting will be held to discuss the future of KNZ. Third Eye Malta would like to wish luck to all the contestants for the new council.
