Ombre is the hottest beauty trend at the moment! It is dominating practically everything, starting from hair, nails and also lipstick. The aspect is to start the lip off with a darker outline, which gradually fades into a lighter shade once it reaches the centre. You could choose any shade for your ombre lip, but at the moment darker shades are having a bigger hit. For the spring season, you could also experiment with a brighter shade, because orange is going to be a big hit this season, starting from clothes, bags and also lips.
On the plus side, ombre lips make your lips look bigger, so that is one reason to try them out !
Here is step-by-step on how you should achieve the perfect ombre lip :
Step 1: Create a base with a nude colour all over your lip. This will help to moisturise your lips and help in achieving a more long lasting lipstick. If you don’t have a nude colour lipstick, a light pat of foundation on your lips could do as well. Some brands also have a matte crayon with a purpose to achieve a long lasting lipstick. Basically it’s a crayon which you apply before the lipstick so as to have two layers of lipstick and the fact that it is matte means that it will also last longer. Thus if you would like a long lasting lipstick with little maintenance throughout the day, I would suggest investing in a matte lipstick.
Step 2: Outline your lips with a lip liner which is darker than your lipstick. If you don’t have one you could also use a dark eyeliner pencil too. When dealing with a very dark lipstick, black eyeliner would be the perfect choice for achieving a beautiful ombre lip. The corners of your mouth should be filled in more than the rest of your lip and the edges should be smudged with a lip brush so as to blend the liner to the centre of your lips.
Step 3: Apply lipstick to the centre of your lips and blend with a lip brush towards the liner. You could also apply a clear lip gloss in the centre for an added shine and contrast.
Well done, you have just achieved the Ombre lip! Remember you could experiment with any colour you’d like. The more contrast between the liner and the lipstick, the bigger impact it would have (not to mention your lips will look fuller!)
