MMSA’s AGM, Candidates Debate & General Elections
MMSA held their candidates debate on Tuesday 28th April after holding their online AGM on Sunday 26th April which saw the participation of over 80 and 100 organisation members respectively. These events were followed by their General Elections held completely online this Friday.
378 from the 614 eligible voters took part in the election, resulting in a turnout of 62%. Following the results of the election, the members making up the MMSA Board of Directors 2020-2021 were elected, with Gloria Montebello leading the team as President. The following is the list of the new members.

- Exchanges-in Officer: Matthew Pace

- Public Health Officer: Michaela Abela
- Medical Education Officer: Matthew Buttigieg
- Sexual and Reproductive Health Officer: Michaela Zammit
- Peer Education and Training Officer: Daniel Formosa
- Human Rights and Peace Officer: Katryna Vassallo
- Leisure Officer: Jeremy John Azzopardi
- Supervising Council with BD experience: Andy Coleiro, Kristina Pulis
- Supervising Council without BD experience: Gabriella Debono
The Third Eye got in touch with newly elected President, Gloria Montebello to get her comments looking forward to the new term.
“We have come a long way … and we still have a long way to go!” She continued by thanking colleagues and friends for trusting in her and the newly elected Board of Directors.
Let us sustain the work that we have done, re-evaluate our strategies and work together to be bigger and better. With our students’ as a main priority, all MMSA members will continue to promote inclusivity, new ideas and progression.
“Let’s celebrate our voice, impact and legacy!” Montebello concluded by referring to MMSA’s 70th Anniversary which they will be celebrating in 2021.
