Ever thought a map could be your sixth sense?

This year’s winner for ICTSA’s ‘The Million Dollar Idea’ happens to be a map. No kidding. A map in itself is already a million-dollar idea. I mean try to imagine first years without a map on fresher’s week. It would be an absolute nightmare.

What makes this map special and the overall winner of this event is the fact that this map holds valuable information. A simple idea which holds tremendous potential. It’s like Dora the Explorer’s map coming to life. This is the invention we’ve all been waiting for.

On a more serious note, Mark Mifsud, one of the masterminds behind this idea, explained that Broadpin would be an internet service. Furthermore, he said that on the map itself there will be ‘marks’ which are points of reference. One can click on said marks and information will appear on the selected location.

“This will be information about the location, things which are present in that location or maybe a feature. It could be about an event or business or a comment you would like to say regarding something in that place.”

This could be very essential to the traveller who wishes to travel light with no fixed destination and definitely no half torn up papers.

Mifsud admits that one challenge that the group – The Guzzlers – faced during the weekend was definitely the various opinions and ideas that the group had. He explained that every member had his own interpretation to this idea. Therefore, the team tried to incorporate the ideas for everyone to make the idea his own.

Overall, Mifsud hopes that in a year’s time the idea will be getting tested amongst university students.
