ASCS, the Association of Students of Commercial Studies, last Friday held a Problem Solving Competition to close off a series of activities at University commemorating Global Entrepreneurship Week. The competition, officiated by professionals from the financial services sector, faced teams of students with real business situations to which they found creative solutions. The eventual winners, Luke Young and Mike Borg, charitably elected to donate half of their €100 prize to Solidaritree, the youth arm of L-Istrina.
President Denise Balzan commented, "At ASCS we aim for a balance between social events and those of an educational nature. By making Global Entrepreneurship Week one of our main focuses this year we continue to offer a complete student experience on campus’. Throughout the week, which is celebrated worldwide as an opportunity to encourage the values of initiative and entrepreneurship, ASCS also organised a number of talks on campus on management and start-ups, as well as collaborating with organisations like the Malta Communications Authority, Young Entrepreneurs & Leaders, the Edward de Bono Institute, and TAKEOFF Business Incubation Centre. ASCS’s Entrepreneurship Week was also supported by partners Alter Domus, MITC and Atlas.
