9/11 Anniversary: 6 Questions which are Still Unanswered

The 11th of September 2001 is undoubtedly a day of grief for the United States. It seemed to be a normal Tuesday, until, at 8:46a.m. American Airlines Boeing 767 crashed in the North Tower of the World Trade Centre at a speed of 470 miles per hour. It appeared to be a terrible accident, until just eighteen minutes later, United Airplanes Flight 175 was seen striking the South Tower There was no doubt, the United States were under-attack. Millions of people around the world gathered in front of their television sets with horror as they watched one of the worst tragedies of our times.

Today, thirteen years later, there are still a lot of loose ends about one of the darkest days in the history of the United States.

1) What made the Twin Towers collapse?

There are various claims that in both towers there were an amount of explosive devices installed in selected areas of the buildings. Some of the people who escaped out of the towers claimed that they could hear explosions while trying to get out of the buildings. Scientists insisted that the heat produced by the fuel of the airplanes couldn’t have produced enough heat to melt the buildings.

2) Why did Jewish people take the day off work on September 11th?

About 4,000 Jewish people did not report to work on the 11th September 2001. Moreover Jewish people were amongst the first to record the staggering events of that day. There are people that believe that the Jews knew already what was going to happen.

3) Where was the presence of air defence?

When there’s a hijacked plane, North American Aerospace Defence Command (NORAD) is ready to send jets to shoot airplanes down if necessary. Due to the its lack of presence, some people believe that on 9/11, NORAD was instructed to stand down.

4) How did the passports of the hijackers survive the explosion?

Following the 9/11 attacks, “Loose Change” documentary implied that the responsible terrorists are still alive in other countries. Despite being a vague statement, they did make a number of good points. Thirteen years later it is still unexplained how papers survived explosions which brought down buildings.

5) Was Osama Bin Laden really the one responsible for the 9/11 attacks?

Primarily, Osama Bin Laden denied any sort of involvement in 9/11 attacks. Following that, footage of Osama Bin Laden emerged, with him taking full responsibility of the attacks. Sceptics believe that Osama Bin Laden was targeted because of his stakes in the stocks and due to George W. Bush’s interest in the Middle East.

6) What happened in flight 93?

It is believed that Flight 93 crashed in Shanksville, Penn, after the passengers fought back and managed to crash it down into a field. There are beliefs, that Flight 93 either landed safely and another plane was shot from the sky, or else it was taken somewhere else and the passengers will never be found.
