It’s Eurovision Week again, the week during which the eyes of the Maltese population are glued to television sets to give support to Malta’s package.
Meanwhile at University things are exactly the same! Lecturers are still too lazy to pass an attendance sheet round, finding a parking space before eleven in the morning is still a nightmare and, when compared to anything else, lectures are relatively boring and useless.
Having said that, although University student organisations do not seem to be engaged with Eurovision matters, they have come up with a number of proposals and suggestions related to the Eurovision.
1. GUG (Gozo University Group) suggested that if the tunnel between Malta and Gozo were to be implemented, Ira wouldn’t have to walk on water.
2. Y4TE (Youth for the Environment) is lobbying with Eurovision organisers so that they don’t waste too much water on the night.
3. Pulse is also lobbying with Eurovision organisers in the light of its recent statement claiming that the current Eurovision voting system is not representative enough and it should be changed.
4. Midwifes Students Organisation (Organizazzjoni Studenti Qwiebel) has offered help if necessary.
5. Meanwhile, JEF shall be supporting Joe and Jake from United Kingdom, hoping that the day that Brexit from Eurovision becomes a reality won’t be anytime.
6. On the other hand, SDM shall be resuming its "Draw the Line’ campaign, but this time round the focus of this campaign shall be an interview with Fabrizio Faniello, who was bullied by Eurovision countries.
7. S-Cubed is expected to turn into Ass-Cubed for a week as it is committed to give support and have Ira’s back, literally!
8. Differently, ASA (Arts Student Association) is set to go on a trip to Imnajdra Temples to see if traces of the last time Malta’s song placed amongst the top three can be found.
9. USPA (University Students of Performing Arts) are expected to carry a case study on Claudette Pace and how in a matter of sixteen years she managed to walk all the way from the stage of Stockholm to Renzo Piano’s Parliament in Valletta.
10. KSU (Kunsill Studenti Universitarji) explained that it is putting pressure on the University administration so that Lynn Chircop’s song "To Dream Again’ is played on repeat mode around campus for all those students who are on the look out for an empty blue parking space during the morning.
11. SACES (Society of Architecture and Civil Engineering Students Malta) proposes all official Eurovision pictures to be taken in black and white.
12. Mdina Knights Manager, Kyle Sultana, has suggested that as from next year the dancers of each song will be chosen by rotation.
13. Conclusively, the Eurovision organisers invited ELSA (European Law Students Organisation) to sing "Let it Go’ on Saturday’s show, until they realised that the ELSA they invited was a student organisation for law students and had nothing to do with the Frozen animation movie.
